Computer Science and Engineering
The original program. Compilers, networks, operating systems, software that has to scale. Most of the department still comes through here.

Years 1–2
A shared core
Mathematics, programming, algorithms, architecture, systems. Everyone takes this before they specialise.
Years 2–3
One of four programs
CSE, Data Science, Integrated Computer Engineering, or Cyber Security. Different labs, same department.
Year 3
Six months in industry
A six-month placement at a partner company. They come back knowing what production looks like.
Final year
A project that has to run
Twelve months, a team, a faculty supervisor, often an industry co-supervisor. Many publish the result.

The third-year internship is six months, full-time. They have sat in a real codebase before they sit in your interview.
Comfortable below the framework
Architecture, networks, firmware, the metal the software sits on. Every program takes that core in the first two years.
Twelve months, one build
The final-year project is a year long, supervised, often with an industry co-supervisor. Some of it gets published.
Can defend a design
Reviews, vivas, papers. They have had to explain the work to people who will argue with it.

Software, data, hardware, and security people sit next to each other. Ideas move across the department because the labs do.
